Grad school

So anyway, orientation for grad school started yesterday. It went pretty well, although my eyes started to glaze over after about the 3rd hour of presentations on the different sub-departments. Today I picked my classes. Or rather, my advisers told me what I was taking and I occasionally interjected a "but..". Ah well, it should be basically ok. It's just that grad school is over so much quicker, so I'm expected to already have a clue what I want to study. I seem to be studying human-computer interface. I don't know that that's really want I want, but whatever. It's just that I don't know a damn thing about human-computer interface and I'm not sure I want to spend the rest of my life doing something that I haven't even tried yet. Ah well. So I'm taking classes in scary things like AI that I don't know a damn thing about. I'll make it work somehow. At least the OS class should be lots of fun, and I have to take that regardless of what area I end up studying in. And I met a guy who likes filk music today at the "how to use the computers" workshop we all had to go to. He's in 3 out of 4 of my classes, so I suppose I'll be running into him a lot. Hey, and y'all can check out my crappy webpage that I threw together in about 5 minutes since we were supposed to make webpages. If I start doing anything interesting, like research, it'll have actual content rather than bad pirate talk, but this should work for now. I now have two accounts which are my first name. That actually kind of sucks. I need to get my own domain so I can have all kinds of warm fuzzy non gender specific email addresses. I have my livejournal email address too, but I don't really want to give that out to people I'm trying to impress. I miss my ljt address already...
