01:06 (18.05.13) I also dreamed about The Doctor
I dreamed about The Doctor.
And we found out what his name was, but then he said it was "our name". His name was the password to the TARDIS, but it belonged with everyone who ever traveled with him.
...it made a lot of sense at the time.

1. There's a sale in the Wii U shop, buy Super Mario World ($7.99) and get Super Mario Bros 2 for half off ($2.49), so I grabbed those. I guess they're trying to get people to buy stuff from the Wii U shop, so I will definitely be on the lookout for more sales! Mario 2 is not one of my favorites, but I figured for $2.49 why not? And I had been eyeing Mario World anyway, as I really liked that one and haven't played it in aaaaaaaaaaaages.
2. I did get quite a bit done at work today and should be able to get even more done tomorrow, since there's only a handful of new invoices on Saturdays, most of which are bakery ones which don't need anything done except to be filed.
3. I got some free hiyashi chuka from work. I don't know why, but there was a big box in the fridge of noodle packages and sauce packages and a sign that said to take some, so I did. And then I had some for dinner. :D

06:58 (18.05.13) May 18, 2013: Celebrate July 4th With Steve And Daniel At Dexcon!
http://www.sjgames.com/ill/a/2013-05-18 Steve and Daniel are heading to Dexcon for one of the biggest Ogre events of the year. And I mean that quite literally since we're talking about the Ogre Macrotures Event Dexcon is presenting on Friday July 5th. What's an Ogre Macroture? Well, that's our fancy insider way of saying a really big honkin' Ogre mini. The one pictured in that link is a nice respectable 1/60th scale. The ones you'll find at Dexcon will be even bigger: 1/40th scale. The whole thing will be taking up a 50' x 20' arena and it will feature a humongous (over two feet long!) Ogre as the centerpiece. It will be a spectacle you will never forget.
Since you can never have enough Ogre, Daniel and Steve will be there for the entirety of the con answering questions and showing off samples. And be sure to check out the rest of the show too. Dexcon is known for its off-the-wall events, so there's going to be plenty of fun to be had!

1. I am really, really loving the Wii U. Way more than I thought I would. I knew I would love Mario (how could I not?), but I didn't think I would actually love the system. I thought the controller looked silly and unnecessary and clunky and figured I'd totally ignore it in favor of the regular wiimotes (which I'm not super fond of, either, tbh), but I LOVE IT. I love being able to do stuff on the controller like use the wii shop or poke around Netflix and even watch Netflix or play a game on it without turning on the TV at all. And it's actually really comfortable to hold.
2. Ugh, even though I didn't actually take any time off work (just rearrange my days off) somehow it feels like I didn't work for ages and have tons of work piled up. How can so much work be piled up when I worked the same number of hours as usual? (Well, yesterday I did take off two hours early, but only two hours!) I know it's a combination of having to do a lot of cashier stuff recently, plus all these internet outages we've had, combined with a bunch of extra work coming in such as price changes for what feels like every product in the store, but my inbox is just really ridiculous. I did manage to get a good chunk taken care of today, and organised what's left. Tomorrow is a big delivery day (which means more invoices to add to the pile), but there's not anything particular I need to do, so hopefully I should be able to just sit down and concentrate on all this backlog.
3. I finally got my $50 iTunes gift card in the mail today! Still not sure what I want to do with the bulk of it (and of course I don't actually need to use it all now), but I did buy Luxor, Luxor 2, and Tetris. (Which altogether was only $3. XD)
4. After the horrible, horrible heat of Monday, it's cooled down quite a bit again. I really do not want to be getting hot weather just now (or ever, really, but I know it's inevitable). The extended forecast has it in the mid to high 60s through the end of the month, so hopefully that will hold true.
5. It's my first payday with my new raise. Extra money, yay! :D (Especially yay after all the extra spending I did while Irene was here. ^_^;;)

01:27 (17.05.13) Hey, why not?
There's a meme that's been going around:
1) Give me a pairing character or two.
2) Give me an AU setting.
3) I will write you a three-sentence fic.
You can also give me a non-AU setting or scenario!
I pretty much just write genfic, which is why I changed the wording of this. You can still give me a pairing if you really want, but be warned that what you’re likely to get is UST, domesticity, and/or maaaybe a kiss.
You guys know my fandoms, I think, but I'll tell you if I don't think I can manage something.

13:42 (16.05.13) Maintenance still in progress
We are still in the process of bringing User Cluster #9 back online, and it is unfortunately taking longer than we anticipated. We are making progress, but are still several hours away from this being fixed. To address a few common questions we are seeing:
How many user clusters are there?
There are 13 user clusters in total.
How can I find out what user cluster my account is on?
You can see which user cluster you are on at http://www.livejournal.com/misc/whereami.bml if you are logged-in. If you cannot login, your account is located on user cluster #9.
I am not on cluster 9, but still can't post or edit entries. What's happening?
Trying to update or edit posts may still fail even if you are not on user cluster #9. An Error 500 will appear when loading the update/edit journal page if you have posting access to a community which is located on this cluster. The update module at http://www.livejournal.com/portal/ may still allow you to post while maintenance is ongoing.
I'm not getting notifications. Is this related?
Subscription notifications are not currently being sent as a result of this maintenance. You may still receive other types of emails, such as pingbacks and password notification emails, but will not receive notifications of new entries or comments being posted.
What other things aren't working right now?
Twitter digest posts are not currently being imported as a result of this maintenance. Some other pages & features may display errors if they need to access information located on user cluster #9. The inbox and community management pages are both known to be showing errors for people affected by this.
We will post again either when user cluster #9 is back online, or if we have any additional information to post. Thanks again for your patience while we work to fully restore service to the site.

05:52 (16.05.13) May 16, 2013: Find Us At San Diego Comic Con 2013
http://www.sjgames.com/ill/a/2013-05-16 We'll be back in San Diego again this year – July 18-21 – for yet another Comic Con. Randy and I will be at the booth, running demos, talking about our games, and handing out loot. Phil and Andrew will also be there, but they're a little harder to get your hands on since they're always sneaking off to secret meetings somewhere. Come learn about all the cool stuff we'll have headed your way later this year, like Ogre and Munchkin Pathfinder. And grab a copy of Castellan while you're there!

00:56 (16.05.13)

Being a bit experimental. Don't like it as an overall, but hell, it's been too long since I posted anything.
It's been like Christmas in the mailbox lately, which is the inspiration. Velvet opera gloves from Sock Dreams, and... okay, Bill and I had me try on a bunch of dresses at Macy's without buying any, found out I'm a perfect Ralph Lauren size 10, and he's Ebayed me some very nice dresses. (I feel slightly bad... but much less now that I've got, like, four for less than the price the one I was looking at best in-store would have been.)
We also went thrift storing today, and it seems I'm also a good New York & Company Medium for shirts. And all this really started about six to eight weeks ago when a friend gave me some old pants... and it turns out American Eagle size 14 jeans fit very well on me.
Things. They're good. And I feel very pretty.
(I also feel incredibly shallow, because the Caitlin Beautification and Presentation project (on the basis that the better you come off in as many areas as possible, the more slack you're able to get on the areas you can't help as much) has been a significant part of the interesting part of my life lately. But hell, I can deal with a few weeks of shallow.)

21:44 (15.05.13) Maintenance update
To followup on the previous post, the same symptoms for user cluster #7 are also present for users on cluster #9, so we're in the process of fixing it as well. Having 2 clusters to work on rather than 1 unfortunately means that we expect it to take approximately 6-8 hours for everything to be resolved. We do, however, know how the problems with each cluster started and it is not something which will cause any additional clusters to have these issues. We'll post here again either when the issue has been resolved, or if we have any significant developments to update you on.

18:46 (15.05.13) Emergency maintenance on user cluster #7
We're doing some emergency maintenance on one of our databases (user cluster #7, there are 13 user clusters in total. You can see which user cluster your account is on here). The estimated duration of this maintenance is 4-5 hours.
If your account is located on user cluster #7, you will not be able to login to your account until this maintenance has been completed. If you are already logged-in, you will be unable to post, edit, or delete any material on LiveJournal until the maintenance is completed.
If your account is not on this cluster, LiveJournal will still be up, you will be able to login. You may be able to post, edit, and delete content, but if any communities you have posting access to are on cluster #7, you will see an Error 500 when attempting to load the update/edit journal page, or viewing your inbox if any messages have been received from a user on cluster #7. Other pages may also be similarly affected if they attempt to load usernames or data from this cluster. You may also encounter problems viewing journals, entries, comments, or private messages from accounts which are on this cluster.
We're working as quickly as possible to get everything back up & running, and appreciate your patience during this maintenance.

1. My first time with zipcar went just fine. I did end up having to extend the reservation for half an hour because we ran into some bad traffic on the way to return the car, but that's only an extra $4 and I'd rather pay that than the $50 fee for being late. The car itself was pretty nice (a little small for someone as tall as Irene, but otherwise good) and it already had about three-quarters of a tank and we used a third of that, so we didn't even have to refill (you are supposed to bring it back with at least a quarter tank).
2. I got a couple shirts and Irene got some shirts and I sold some manga and CDs and we went to shops we haven't been to in ages and generally just had a nice day. I'm definitely glad we decided to get a car for the day.
3. I have work tomorrow, but only six hours and then I'll be home in the evening to spend a bit more time with Irene before her flight. Then Alexander is coming over again to take her to the airport.

If you prefer to just drop in for an Ogre demo, or see the game pieces, you're welcome to come by the Steve Jackson Games exhibitor booth throughout the fair.

13:41 (14.05.13) Why punching my card is a good thing:
I said two entries ago that sometime I feel like I am just punching my card. Things aren't always exciting and meaningful to me, but I feel I should do them. Here I am in Brookings without much money, and not much to do, but I feel I have a need to put in an effort.
...even it I do feel like it is just punching my card, I feel an actual obligation, a duty, to do various things. And weirdly enough, the thing about suicide is...I have a to-do list that must be done! I have been to 34 of Oregon's counties, but I want to get to 36. I am only up to the second doctor! Only on Book II of the Dark Tower! I have a list of countries to get mail from! And, I could never die with unanswered mail!
So its the idea that I have to keep doing these things, even when I don't enjoy them, that keeps me sane.
